Figuring out Spring Moves

One of the things I have not been able to fix quickly around our house that I don't like, is.. well.. the house, and the yard.  We go back and forth between colors, landscaping.  Cory is good with mowing the lawn.  Not me.  As you can see in the first picture... the color of the house, is not special to the neighborhood.

I think we'vd decided the spot where the a/c unit is, we are putting a slider we already own in & laying a cement patio there, it's right off the front of our kitchen.

We have so many trees it's ridiculous.
As you can see, no one has loved the landscape in a long time!
I have some grasses and things to liven up the side of the garage, until we can figure out what to paint the house.

I'm putting my own mark slowly, the chairs are two of my favorites, I bought them on clearance from target and placed cute pillows on them.  I love sitting in them, we never use that door.

I purchased some flowers for this corner.  The lily's drive me nuts.  No one loves lilies that much, do they?  The multiply like rabbits!  Or maybe rabbits multiply like them?

So begins the sewing

Well, It's been busy around here.  Cory and I hit our one year mark of marriage, started our garden.  Oh yes, that's why I'm here.  To show you our garden!  Well.. the start of it.  I had the jiffy sets, so I started seeds that needed a jump.

It was almost too easy.  Pour in 1 3/4 cups of water.

It took maybe 30 seconds to go from lake of stuff to: Pods.

I shook out the seeds on the counter.  These are some of the Roma Tomato seeds

The ones below are the peas.

Looking at the dirt as I was beginning my first ever garden..  I wondered how I was going to tell which leaf from which leaf?  So, I made a drawing.  Very thought out wasn't it?

My seeds are started. We will pick up the supplies for our raised garden beds.

Garden, the beginning

A few weeks ago, I came across a groupon that I couldn't pass up!  I ordered 50 packets of seeds.  I ripped open the box.. and stared in horror.  What was I thinking? I carefully have spent the last few days wading through the mess I created.  and picked out a few to start with.

Tomatoes, peppers, peas, onions, lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, broccoli, and beans!  :) I am really excited.  I see canned beans, pickles, salsa, my own tomato paste, frozen carrots, onions, broccoli!

In my excitement, I turned to my nook for a new app I heard about.  Garden minder.  It gives all kinds of fun tips!  Plus it walks me through when to start seedlings, when to plant.  It's kind of limited if you want to think outside the box, but it has the basics, and spring & fall versions of many plants.

Soon I'll have many more updates, I'm hoping to get some of me starting my seedlings & the building of our garden boxes.  Although they might not look as organized as the ones above!

Two Missions

I've given myself two missions for the next few months, mission one.. the kitchen.

Mission two.. the yard.

I'm pretty sure on what I'd like to do outside... I want to paint the house a beige and put color in by florals and painting our cement walkways.

The interior. Oh man... I go from rustic country to french country. Trying to find a happy medium. I feel like maybe I should take pictures of each before I start. I should have taken pictures before I moved in. When my husband had the budwiser banner saying "welcome" over the dining room table, or the beads hanging from the fan that sits over the table. uhm. Yeah. Pictures before = bad.

Our house is so little, the biggest room is the kitchen.. then the living room.. then the bedroom. I've confined the majority of man things to the garage and the extra room we have just hanging out in the back of our house. I know what I'd like.. a better flow. I feel like for the time being, I've gone back and forth between putting my porcelin dolls on display or my quilts in the living room. I want a grown up flow, one I've seen few houses have...

We'll see. I'll be posting my ideas, writing about my flow.. and kinda go from there!
